You and your son or daughter, for whom you are borrowing, should first get a
personal identification number (PIN) from the U.S.
Department of Education.
With a PIN, you will both be able to electronically sign the FAFSA, and the FAFSA
will be processed even more quickly.
Make sure the student has filled out the FAFSA online or a hard copy from the high school counselor’s
office or financial aid office.
A credit check is performed at no charge.
To receive a Federal PLUS Loan, you may now sign
your Master Promissory Note (MPN) electronically.
You may also complete a paper version of the MPN, which can be mailed to you for completion. Check with
the school the student will be attending to see which method they prefer.
Specify your lender as The Student Loan People by using lender #826688 on
the Master Promissory Note (MPN).
